Educated, Passionate, Professional
Eastside Forestry is owned & operated by Patrick Broderick. Patrick is an avid outdoorsman and has spent much of his life in the woods. Patrick grew up hunting on and helping manage 300 acres of private forestland in upstate New York.
While attending college at Montana State University, Patrick spent his summers working seasonally as a forester and botanist throughout the East Cascades of Oregon and Northern California. In Northern California, he worked on a team of several foresters overseeing the planting of 300,000 trees in areas decimated by wildfire. As a botanist, he conducted rare plants surveys and led his crew in the mapping and eradiction of invasive species in the Umpqua National Forest.
After earning his Bachelor's of Science in Conservation Biology and Ecology, Patrick accepted a job with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as lead forester for the 51,000 acre Teanaway Community Forest, permanently moving to Cle Elum with his wife, Sophie, and their black lab, Zeal. During his time at the DNR, he worked throughout Kittitas and Yakima counties on timber sales prioritizing forest health. He also oversaw the completion of 600 acres of young stand thinning and created multiple strategic fuel breaks off main roads.
In November of 2023, compelled by his passion to make a significant difference in the local community and help small landowners manage their forests, Patrick moved on from the DNR and formed Eastside Forestry.
Patrick is a Candidate Full Member with the Association of Consulting Foresters (ACF) and a proud active member of Washington Farm Forestry Association Kittitas Chapter. Patrick speaks at Cle Elum Middle/High School yearly, as well as several local clubs and outdoor related events. Contact us to inquire about guest speaker opportunities.
